    Prawn Curry

While we all know exterior elements, like the sun, pollution, and weather, can affect the look and health of our skin, many of us still fail to realize how crucial it is to be equally aware of what goes into our bodies. Did you know ingesting foods of poor nutritional value can damage our DNA too? When we are not properly nourishing our bodies on the inside, we are damaging them. This can lead to premature aging and an overall lackluster appearance, not to mention poor health.

To look and feel your best, I recommend choosing well balanced organic foods high in Vitamin C and drinking plenty of water. Why not start tonight? Let this delicious and healthy meal from CHLI (California Health & Longevity Institute) kick-start your skin savvy diet.

    Prawn Curry:

    Ingredients:

    1 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 Tbsp. chopped ginger
    2 tsp. chopped garlic
    5 Curry leaves
    1/2 cup chopped red onion
    1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
1/2 tsp. finely chopped red pepper (Thai Red Bird)
    1/2 tsp. chili powder
    2 Tbsp. ground coriander
    1/4 tsp. turmeric
16 oz. large raw shrimp, peeled and de-veined
    1/2 cup lite coconut milk
    2 Tbsp. finely chopped cilantro

    Directions:

    1. Heat oil in large sauté pan over medium heat. Add ginger, garlic and curry leaves.
    2. Add onions and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add tomatoes and peppers and sauté for 3-4 more minutes.
    3. Add chili powder, coriander and turmeric, sauté for 1 minute.
    4. Add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until shrimp are just pink.
    5. Add lite coconut milk, turn heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
    6. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve over rice.

  • Outdoor Wedding DNA Prep

    outdoor-wedding

Tis the season for outdoor weddings and al fresco dining, but before you stake out your aisle side seat in the sunshine be sure you are protected. I know, heavy protective gear and thick sunscreens seem to be reserved only for beach days and poolside parties, but it only takes an hour of watching a friend exchange vows before sunset to exchange your otherwise healthy youthful-looking skin for DNA damage.

When harmful UV rays compromise our fragile DNA, we may unknowingly be setting the stage for wrinkles, dark spots, and even pre-cancerous lesions to enter. However, this is not a post telling you to check "no" for the next outdoor wedding invite, nor are we about the tell you to slather on thick zinc on your nose and cheeks. Rather, we would like to share our pre-outdoor wedding prep for healthy, protected, and of course, radiant-looking skin.

    1. Wash with Renewal Foaming Cleanser. This non-drying, yet powerfully exfoliating, cleanser is the ultimate prep step for smooth and even-toned skin. Not only will it clear out debris trapped in pores, but it will also rinse away dulling residue, giving you a fresh and glowing appearance.

    2. Lightly massage 2 pumps of DNA Intensive Renewal all over face and neck. Packed with the highest concentration of DNA Repair Enzymes, this clinically proven super elixir will not only protect and reverse damage caused by the sun, but it will also plump and hydrate tired, dull, and lackluster skin, giving you an instant luminescent boost.

    3. Don't forget your eye area! Dab DNA Eye Renewal gently around your orbital bone. This will help brighten dark circles, calm bags and swelling, and defend against dreaded crow’s feet.

    4. Use 2-3 pumps of DNA Defense SPF 30 on face and neck. This broad spectrum sunscreen is not heavy and will not make you feel like a tourist at Disneyland. Ultra lightweight and surprisingly luxurious, this daily sunscreen is perfect for under makeup application.

There you have it. If you've got the time, try waiting 3-5 minutes between products for maximum absorption. Not only will these 4 steps ensure you look beautiful and radiant on the day of the wedding, but they will also help keep you looking just as good (if not better) for the future days to come!

  • Nix Spring Irritation with Fragrance-Free Products

    nix-spring-fragrance

With spring in swing and flowers in bloom, let’s talk fragrance and allergies. Many patients enjoy a scented product, especially during the warmer months. However, fragrances belong in the perfume bottle and certainly not on your face. Why? One major reason is irritation. Often times, the perfume added to a product is made from synthetic ingredients. These synthetics are not only adding nothing to the actually efficacy of the product, but they are also incredibly capable of making your skin problems worse, leading to dryness, redness, and even rashes and breakouts.

Instead, contain your fragrances to a perfume bottle and keep them away from your face and other easily irritated body parts. When looking for skincare products, choose hypoallergenic ones instead. After all, your skincare products are meant to improve skin, not add additional problems, right? Particularly in spring, when skin is even more susceptible to allergic irritation than usual, it is vital to choose hypoallergenic skincare products, like DNA EGF Renewal's. In fact, not only is DNA EGF Renewal's entire line fragrance-free and hypoallergenic, but the nourishing formulas and regenerating DNA Repair Enzymes will also help calm any redness, inflammation, or dryness naturally occurring as a result of the season. We recommend DNA Intensive Renewal as an ideal non-irritating daily moisturizer that will keep your skin in check all year long.

  • Daily Damage Repaired Nightly with DNA Intensive Renewal

    repair daily sun damage nightly

By now, (hopefully) we are all a little more aware and obedient when it comes to protecting our skin from UV rays. After all, there has been no lack of sunscreen awareness and no shortage of sunless tanning alternatives in the media (sunbathers, I'm looking at you). However, there is still a fairly large cross section of individuals who are not necessarily sunbathers, but rather gardening lovers, tennis players, patio diners, and even rush hour traffic drivers who are also at increased risk for wrinkles, sagging, dark spots, skin cancer, and other symptoms associated with daily sun exposure. Quite simply: if you are the outdoorsy type, you are accumulating daily DNA damage that is adversely affecting the appearance and health of your skin.

Aside from applying and reapplying a broad spectrum sunscreen every day, a nightly dose of a DNA repair enzymes can replenish and restore any damage that makes its way past the sunscreen. DNA EGF Renewal's clinically proven DNA Intensive Renewal features the absolute highest concentration of these enzymes for the absolute highest level of rejuvenation. Especially in these warmer months where we all tend to frequent the outdoors a little more often, it is incredibly beneficial to use DNA Intensive Renewal as an immediate action against the immediate and future effects of sun exposure.

  • A Daily Dose of Damage Control

On a sunny day, there is little more appealing than time spent outdoors. However, as the seasons change and we shift from winter to spring and then to summer, many of us will experience sunburns and other environmental stressors that damage our skin on a daily basis. For instance, earlier this week I was sitting in the sun at the Indian Wells tennis tournament getting sun damaged. Although I had DNA Defense SPF 30+ on, the first thing I did when I returned to the hotel room was apply DNA Intensive Renewal to repair the damage.

    sun-exposure

Truth told: the DNA which makes up our youthful, healthy-looking complexions is incredibly fragile. Its delicate structure can be easily compromised or broken when exposed to UV rays. When this happens, we experience all those pesky signs of aging, not to mention become more susceptible to skin cancer. So, whether concerned with wrinkles, enlarged pores, dark spots, facial sagging, cancer, or all of the above, there has been little done to actually address these issues at their core. Sure; you can inject skin with fillers or perform surgeries, but that will only cover up the true problem. Think of it like you would water damage on the ceiling of the house. You may mask its visible signs by painting the ceiling, but it won’t change the fact that damage remains underneath.

DNA Repair Enzymes, like the high concentration found in DNA EGF Renewal's DNA Night Renewal and DNA Intensive Renewal, have the unique ability actually repair damage by replenishing and restoring affected DNA. Particularly, when applied immediately after or the very night damaged has occurred, these powerful enzymes can be incredibly effective at reviving skin. In fact, a daily/nightly regimen of broad spectrum sun protection combined with regular application of DNA Intensive Renewal and DNA Night Renewal can dramatically improve the health and appearance of damaged skin in just weeks. Sunburns and peeling will rapidly heal, sagging skin will tighten and lift, and the overall texture and tone of skin will dramatically improve.

Though I never recommend intentional sun exposure, I do understand swearing off convertible joyrides, beach volleyball, and in my case, tennis, is not realistic (nor fun) for anyone. So instead, consider regular application of DNA repair enzymes as your daily dose of damage control.
